Our staff at Mackenzie loves getting in the Halloween “spirit” and this year, we’re planning an adult-themed party with casual fare and a spiked punch recipe.
We’ve listed a few of our favorite sources to decorate your home inside and out. Be creative and look on Pinterest and Etsy for inspiration. You don’t have to spend a bundle to make your home feel hauntingly chic!
On the menu? Our Carrot and Ginger Bisque, the perfect start to a gathering by the fire on a chilly autumn night. We love the idea of serving the soup in ceramic pumpkin tureens or mason jars and have links to where you can buy them listed below.
For the main course, we suggest our Mushroom and Balsamic Flatbread. Cut the flatbread in horizontal slices and serve on a rustic cutting board or marble slate and let your guests serve themselves.
A sweet treat that will have everyone in good cheer, our Toasted S’Mores are bite-sized and easy to serve on a cake plate for a fun presentation.
VAMPIRE PUNCH RECIPE
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ cup Campari
½ cup gin, we prefer Tanqueray or Hendricks
½ cup fresh-squeezed orange juice (you can use regular OJ if you’re short on time)
3 cups chilled club soda
½ cup pomegranate seeds
1 orange, thinly sliced
1. Combine the sugar and ¼ cup water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the sugar has completely dissolved, 1 to 2 minutes. Let it cool.
2. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the Campari, gin, orange juice, and sugar syrup; chill for up to 12 hours. Just before serving, add the club soda, pomegranate seeds, and orange. Serve over ice.
